On Pentecost Sunday, Holy Ghost Greek Catholic Church on Golden Boulevard celebrated its Golden Jubilee with Divine Liturgy concelebrated by Bishop John Pazak, Fr. John Girhiny, pastor and Fr. John Fetsco, Dean. The church was filled with current and returning parishioners, their families and friends. People travelled from many parts of southern Ontario. One person drove from Pittsburgh.
A banquet in the church hall followed where John Maloney M.P., PeterKormos M.P.P. and Mark Dzugan, City Councillor made presentations to the church and the pastor. A citation was given to Fr. John to recognize his 17+ years of volunteer service to the parish. A visual trip down memory lane, using big screen technology, was an emotional experience for all. The celebration concluded with a performance by the Bratislava Dancers of Welland.
